Privacy policy

Updated 20 September 2026
Your information helps us fulfil your order and support you. This policy explains how Shelby handles personal information when you browse, shop, create an account or contact us.

Who to contact

For a privacy question or request, email info@tungsten-rings.co.za with “Privacy request” in the subject line, or contact 064 653 1986. Please provide enough detail to identify your request, but do not send passwords, full card details or unnecessary identity documents. We may need proportionate proof of identity before releasing or changing account information. Shelby’s contact address is 1169 Cobham Street, Queenswood, Pretoria, 0186, South Africa.

Information used by the store

Information you provide can include your name, email address, telephone number, billing and delivery address, account details, order history, selected ring size, engraving text, payment status and customer-service messages. Browsing can also generate technical information such as IP address, browser details and session or cookie identifiers. Information about a delivery recipient should be provided only when you are authorised to share it.

Why information is needed

We use relevant information to process and deliver orders, personalise requested items, manage accounts, answer enquiries, handle returns and warranty claims, keep transaction records, and protect the store from fraud or misuse. Processing is based on the relevant transaction, a legal obligation, a legitimate interest permitted by law, or consent where required. You can browse without an account, but missing order or delivery information may prevent us from completing a purchase.

Payments & service providers

The store uses WooCommerce and offers Payfast payment processing. Payment providers handle the payment information required by their service; do not submit full card details in an engraving field or customer-service message. Information needed to fulfil an order may be shared with payment providers, the delivery courier, hosting and technical support providers, and advisers or authorities where legally necessary. Delivery details are used to get your parcel to you.

Engraving, sizing & external services

Engraving text is part of your order so that the selected wording and font can be fulfilled and supported. Avoid putting sensitive personal information into engraving text. The digital ring sizer runs in your browser; its current calibration controls do not ask for or upload a photograph of your bank card. The interface uses externally hosted fonts, which can cause your browser to send technical information such as an IP address to the font provider. Clicking a WhatsApp or other external link takes you to a service with its own privacy terms.

Cookies & browser controls

The website uses session and cookie functions to support features such as your basket, checkout and account sign-in. Your browser can block or clear cookies, although doing so may interrupt those features. Optional marketing or analytics processing must have any consent or other lawful basis required for its use. This policy does not treat browsing the site as blanket consent to unrelated marketing.

Marketing choices

Order, payment, delivery and support messages relate to your purchase or enquiry. Promotional communications are separate and must meet applicable consent and direct-marketing requirements. You can object to marketing or withdraw marketing consent using an unsubscribe option where provided or by contacting us. This does not prevent essential messages about an existing order.

Retention, security & international processing

We retain information for the purpose it was collected, including necessary transaction, tax, dispute and warranty records, and remove or de-identify it when it is no longer lawfully needed. Access should be limited to people and providers who need it, with reasonable safeguards against loss or misuse. No online system is completely risk-free. Where a provider processes information outside South Africa, the transfer must meet applicable POPIA requirements; information is not made exempt from protection simply because it is hosted abroad.

Your choices & rights

Subject to lawful limits, you may request access to your personal information, ask for corrections or deletion, object to relevant processing, and withdraw consent where processing relies on it. Some records may need to be retained despite an account-deletion request. We will explain any applicable restriction. You may also lodge a complaint with South Africa’s Information Regulator, including at POPIAComplaints@inforegulator.org.za.

Updates to this policy

We may update this policy when the store or its information-handling practices change. The date above identifies the current version. Materially new uses of personal information must be handled in accordance with applicable law, including seeking consent where required.
